PM Visits The Double Glazing Company

Friday, December 11, 2009

Prime Minister John Key visited The Double Glazing Company at the Ullrich Alluminium Trade Show in Hamilton on Friday.  Mr Key spoke of the benefits he had experienced with having double glazing in his residence when he lived in the UK.

The Double Glazing Company attended the trade show hosted by Ullrich Aluminium with visitors coming from all over the South Pacific.  “This was a great opportunity to show how homes with single glazing can have double glazing installed - with some simple changes to their existing windows and doors” said John Mason, founder of The Double Glazing Company.

The Double Glazing Company has a number of joinery profiles developed with Ullrich Aluminium as a part of it’s retroGLAZETM system.  The system, as seen at the Trade Show, has been developed for aluminium and glass trades-people to retrofit double glazing into existing windows.

Home Shows a Great Chance to see how it looks

Friday, May 1, 2009

The Double Glazing Company recently attended Home Shows in Taupo and Auckland, providing a chance for visitors to see and experience the difference that double glazing makes.

“It was interesting how many people at first could not see the differences in our samples of windows before and after retrofitting them with double glazing”, said Megan from The Double Glazing Company in Taupo.

“The visual changes are so small - but the results are profound”.

New joinery profiles provide improved solutions for homes

Friday, April 17, 2009

New window joinery profiles have been added to The Double Glazing Company’s set of solutions for fitting double glazing into existing windows and doors.  Designed in-house, with extrusion dyes developed with INEX, the profiles continue to keep The Double Glazing at the forefront of the retro-double glazing market.

“On-going improvements are a key part of our business” said Bruce Mason. “It is great to be part of an organisation that continues to look for innovative ways to meet customer needs”.

The development is a continuation of previous work and is a part of an on-going program of expanding and improving the solutions available for installing double glazing into existing windows and doors.

Survey: quarter of NZ homes making occupants sick

Monday, December 1, 2008   (source: 3news.co.nz)

Peter Neilson is practising what he preaches. As the boss of the Council for Sustainable Development he is making his home warmer and dryer.

“We’ve got one million New Zealand homes that are under performing,” stated Mr Neilson.

The council surveyed 3500 New Zealanders:

26 percent said their home had made someone living there sick - totalling 410,000 unhealthy homes.

59 percent said their house could be warmer and more comfortable and most could not afford to improve their home's performance.

Over 90 percent wanted some expert advice on how to improve their home.

Lack of insulation seems to be the biggest problem and it is costing.

“We’re probably paying half a billion dollars a year more in energy because we're using that to heat the street rather than inside our homes,” explained Mr Neilson.

Healthier homes would also create other major savings.
